San Juan United Way Announces 2009 Campaign Chairman

Marshall Plummer, former Vice President of the Navajo Nation, has accepted the position of 2009 San Juan United Way Campaign Chairman. Mr. Plummer has taken on the challenging objective to raise $3 million for this year’s campaign. Thursday, at San Juan United Way’s annual Pacesetter Breakfast, Mr. Plummer said “One of my goals is to give more people from throughout San Juan County an opportunity to participate in this fall’s campaign”.

Mr. Plummer has been the recipient of many honors including Citizen of the Year as well as the Great Spirit Award by the Navajo Institute for Social Justice. Mr. Plummer has worked extensively in the Navajo Nation government system including serving as the Vice-President from 1991 to 1995. His wide range of experience includes public safety, County Commissioner in McKinley County, vital statistics and health planning for the Navajo Nation. Mr. Plummer is currently the Human Resources/Governmental Affairs Manager at Arizona Public Service – Four Corners Power Plant. He received his MBA from the University of Phoenix and BA from New Mexico Highlands University. He is also a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Plummer has recruited a Campaign Cabinet that includes; Scott Michlin, Linda Clark, Gayle Dean, Adam Kinney, Clete Berens, Dr. Rick Champany, Bill Rainbolt, Rick Quevedo, Bert Levine, Julie Rasor, and Charlene Scott. The cabinet will be calling on companies in San Juan County to solicit their support for the fall campaign.

Scott Michlin, President of the Board of Directors of San Juan United Way stated “It is honored to have Mr. Plummer serve as our 2009 Campaign Chairman”.

Scott Michlin has been a resident of San Juan County since 1989. He is a local celebrity to many San Juan County residents who remember him as the news anchor on Farmington’s local television station. A very active member in the community Scott is no stranger to San Juan United Way. In 2006 Scott was the Campaign Chairman and since March of 2007 has been a member of the SJUW Board.
