San Juan United Way was formed by volunteers in 1960 and continues to this day to rely on volunteers for every aspect of its mission from our Board of Directors to our Campaign Managers to our Community Investment Volunteers.

We are the second largest United Way in New Mexico in dollars raised for our community. All undesignated funds raised stay right here in our community.

One out of every three people in San Juan County are touched by San Juan United Way and its Partner Agencies every year. We are efficient and accountable, 100% of our overhead is covered by our Corporate Cornerstone Companies.

Every dollar you give is helping our friends and neighbors in San Juan County.

Childhaven

In 1966 it was not uncommon to find children inside or outside of bars waiting for their parents. Sometimes children were found wandering the highway in the middle of the night. The police in San Juan County faced a dilemma when the parent of a child was arrested or when parents or relatives could not be located to care for an abandoned child. It was apparent that San Juan County needed a shelter for abused, neglected and abandoned children.
